    My Story:

After 49 years of doing the hamster-wheel in California, I finally left it all
and decided to see what Southeast Asia had to offer. I moved to the Philippines
for 6 years, experienced some of the best times of my entire life!

Now, I am exploring again and living in Vietnam. Join me as I venture out to see
more of Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand. I will share with you my thoughts on
what I see and how I handle the various challenges of living as a full-time expat
in Southeast Asia. For more photos and non-Youtube videos, join or follow my
    Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/reekay.lifebeyondthesea

Feel free to share the links above as they help to support this channel. Thanks. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Beautiful restaurant with a beautiful woman you can’t beat that. Asian woman are classy and carry themselves with grace.

  3. It’s a sea not an ocean, specifically South China sea. I always hear americans calling seas oceans so I got used to it๐Ÿ˜‚

  4. As a 53 years old Vietnamese man, I do NOT know why my people like kareoke so much? Most canโ€™t sing they feel that yelling into the microphone is a close substitute!

  5. Looked like a nice spot and with a great lady – Love your taste for a night out and especially women – Wish you both the very best.

  6. Was going to ask if you and Gina went on the Ferris Wheel but then I remembered about your problem with heights.

    1. ha! neither of us wanted to go up that thing. we enjoyed the flashing lights from our balcony. ๐Ÿ˜€

  7. Hey Brother Reekay nice to see you again. Your sub from from London UK #Blackman. I use to watch all your Philippines vlogs ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘. Hope Vietnam is good to you ?.

  8. It looks like you found a wife. You both seem to be in sync. Personally, I eat at local restaurants in Thailand. I don’t like large bills for food in South East Asia. However ‘by necessity I have always been a budget traveler. A price for a meal outside in Bangkok is 35 baht. My father was a restaurant Gourmet and he went to the best restaurants in Los Angeles so I understand that some people like good restaurant dining. I am a little old cheapie

  9. Wow!! What a wonderful meal at such a nice restaurant, and a evening stroll around the grounds with such romantic lighting with the most beautiful girl in southeast Asia.. PRICELESS!!!

  10. Vietnam is so modern and economically well develop. No comparison with the Philippines. You have great choice to retire in Vietnam..stay there with those wonderful and classy girl ..you have what you got. Congrats..

  11. Hey Reekay, it looks like you and Gina are having a great relationship. Very very nice to see…. All the best to both of you!

  12. You are approaching this in a very commendable manner , I have lived over 20 yrs in Thailand , now one year in Philippines, and many times in Cambodia, Laos , Malaysia , Singapore, so , have a good knowledge of the area. I think Vietnam is the most well developed and liveable I have experienced but, like you , the language barrier and circumstance led me here , good luck in the future, hope the wanderlust has been settled

    1. thanks. i’m at a point in my life where i am content in most things easily enough. not in a hurry to have a g/f move in, or get married. just enjoying life as it comes, day by day. ๐Ÿ™‚

  13. Not sure what camera you’re using for this, but I think the quality is not good. It’s blurry a lot of times.

    1. this was shot with a GoPro in 1080HD and with a gimbal. very clear if you have the bandwidth for 1080HD viewing. check your Youtube viewing speed as it will reduce the resolution if your bandwidth is too low. there is a gear for it on the viewing screen.

  14. You seem to be quite a lucky guy she is a beautiful n awesome lady.but it still amazes me how these communists countries have embraced Capitalism.as a Vietnam Veteran(1969-1970).I find all the changes in Vietnam to b incredible.also will you ever be going up to Quang Tri n Dong Ha my old stomping grounds

    1. i try to find a balance. i share a bit so that others can see what life is like here, including a relationship. but i also put away the camera or even leave it behind for much of our personal time together. we see each other almost every day, but i only do video together once in a while. ๐Ÿ™‚

  15. This woman is pure class Henry, the resort seems very high class, compared to other se asian hotels, be interesting to know who is behind it

    1. “Vinpearl is a resort company operated by Vietnamese billionaire Phแบกm Nhแบญt Vฦฐแปฃng. It merged with Vincom in 2007.”

  16. I wish I could visit Vietnam; I am a debt slave.
Anyway, I am surprised that all these american companies are in shock about the Chinese tariffs. Trump gave them over a year to leave and they ignored him. They should of moved their factories to places such as : Philippines and Vietnam.
Question Reekay? Your date is very pretty. is she mixed in nationality?

    1. she is pure vietnamese, as both of her parents whom i’ve met. i do suspect there may be some french in her lineage though based on some of her physical features.

  17. Reekay, from what I’ve seen in you’re Vietnam videos, it looks rather clean. Is there a big difference between Philippines and Vietnam as far as cleanliness?

    1. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea I could imagine. Also the Philippines is much more crowded population

    2. in the big-cities, yes. in the rural areas, it can get a bit more littered, but still not as bad as the ph. but in places like saigon, da lat, da nang, hanoi… the city has a good system in place to keep the streets clean.

  18. Reekay, Great footage! Real nice date, but I wish you could of explain to us, so that we could sort of a virtual experience, showing us the cost of everything.

  19. As a long time subscriber I note much more “spring in your step” these days. Good luck to you both.

    1. it depends on where you live and what you do. my standard budget in vietnam is 30% less expensive than when i was living in cebu. vacations are a whole separate expense, varies depending on where you vacation to.

  20. Is that the Bellagio or the Wynn Las Vegas..
Great place celebrating Andy Ruiz Heavyweight Championship..

    1. food was very, very good. but no way i was getting up on that ferris wheel.. we were content to just see it light-up. ๐Ÿ˜€

  21. “Wedding Bells heard in the background…Ahhh. capture the moment young man. Your heart is in Vietnam.

  22. Youโ€™re so funny…โ€looks like some kind of fishโ€. I couldnโ€™t stop laughing. That restaurant looked great. Too bad you didnโ€™t show what your food looked like. Iโ€™m getting to think my next vacation will be Vietnam. Thanks for the video. The wife and I was thinking Thailand because she has friends there but, Vietnam looks really amazing.

  23. Reekay, just marry this Gina and get it over with. The decision is unanimous… If not you may lose her to another and don’t wanna regret then.

    1. Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea
Go with the flow as you are doing……Time IS the great equalizer and reveals so much and I donโ€™t mean bad things either…..a year minimum, dating, before any sort of long term commitment. Maybe even two years….
Anyway with that amount of time under your belts youโ€™ll both know…..
You are building the foundation now……

    2. a proper time to everything. for now, we’re getting to know each other better each passing week. we see each other about 6 days a week, usually at the end of the day unless we meet up for lunch and a movie. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. i actually spend 30% less on my main budget now than what i was spending in cebu. i enjoyed my time in the provinces and small towns along the beach. but there is so much more to see out here. ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. The Big shrimps are called either spiny lobster, big prawns or small lobster. Usually the right saying is spiny lobster. These do not have claws. Just so you know my friend.

    1. @TanahMerah Probably in some ways. I guess the cultures are in some ways quite different in VN compared to PH.

    1. very rare any guys wear pants in vietnam, due to the heat, even to a place such as this. unless they are in work attire and their job requires it. had it been a wedding, that would be a different situation. contrarily though, i was one of few who wore shoes, most were about in flip-flops or sandals.

  25. Wow..and we thought the Filipinos love seafood..they have a whole freaking aquarium in the restaurant to choose from..lol

  26. Donno what there is about flower print dresses but your girl looks awesome in hers too.I’ve had my mother inlaws Mexican fish head soup & it was tasty..If i was you though, i would never touch the “Chinese 100 year old egg “.

    1. yes, her flower-print dress is just one of my favorites she wears. she has a white min-skirt that is cute too. and in a black dress with heels, omg. ๐Ÿ˜€

  27. wow ! that place is so beautiful , I love it Reekay ,we are so happy for you both ,enjoy and congrats

  28. Nha Trang has always had a lot of potential . Glad to see it’s being developed so lovely.
Maybe a few shots of the old Air Base from the ‘American’ war?

  29. I’m glad your out and discovering new Countries and Cities and taking us along.. Loved you being in Dumaguete, my wife’s town for 15 years. My question would be, why didn’t you explore other Asian Countries for your first 5-6 years overseas. And could you have taken any of your female friends to visit other Asian Countries?

    1. i didn’t get curious about visiting outside the PH until my 4th year there. until then i was content with seeing what the islands had to offer. i only considered one to take with me, but she preferred to stay in the ph to remain close to family. for her, travel would have been one, long inconvenience away from home.

  30. Hello Reekay & Gina , this is so lovely of you both to share a time like this together Gina you looked so niceย the dress you woreย complemented your graceful look and Reekay your the perfect gentleman as always .ย ๐Ÿ™‚

  31. Looks like you have a much more lavish lifestyle in Vietnam than in the Philippines, Henry! It probably won’t make the comparison easier. But you seem to be enjoying your life there! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. a bit higher standard of living but less expensive than what i was spending in uptown cebu. ๐Ÿ™‚

  32. You need to be honest an really evaluate your relationship with her. It is very obvious she is already in love with you and is willing to spend the rest of her life with you. Are you willing to do the same? I wish you both all the love and prayers.

    1. @william gehring You get all that from one video? Your comments, just like some of the viewers here, are ridiculously laughable. You obviously leap first before you look.

    2. Awesome! great news. You are a good man, and I have been subscribing to you a few years. I enjoy your honesty and how you treat people. I wish you the best my friend. You now go me looking at changing my retirement plans from Dumaguette to Vietnam. I guess I will have to spend time in both locations to find where my heart wants to stay. Thanks for all you do.

    3. it’s only been just over 7 weeks since we met. we do care for each other greatly, but i can tell you directly that she is not asking for any commitments any time soon.

2 months is far too early to be making permanent decisions, and she has stated so several times herself. so neither of us is in any big hurry. we’re fine taking our time with this.

  33. Very romantic, the menu on a tablet was very nice but in the western states the tablet menu would never work because someone will walk out with that tablet.

  34. Looks like you two are getting along very well but still take time to know each other for at least a year, that’s what you said in your other videos get to know the person first.

  35. Hate to say this Henry but a woman’s clock is always ticking. Right now everything is all hunky dory but she will eventually will want a ring. All women do. Sorry but I see trouble ahead.

    1. @Nguyen Jake Exactly ! dont mind all those insecure simps babbling about wedding ring and marriage Lmao ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Reekay holdin it down nice n steady no need to rush NOTHING.๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

    2. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea You have quite a number of viewers who are insecure and desperate; the comments are so ridiculous, it’s funny. There’s nothing wrong with a commitment, but there’s nothing wrong with a non-commitment either. Just stick to your own pace, you’re doing well. Only you and her will really know when the right time is.

    3. Looks like she already took care of the ring herself…look at that enormous thing on her middle finger (yes, literally her middle finger, no reference to giving someone the bird is intended).

  36. So happy for you both, have fun on your date. To make a relationship last you must develop a friendship first. I know I’ve been married to the same man for 40years. God bless ๐Ÿ’œ

    1. yes, neither of us is in any hurry. and no plans to live together either. just taking time to know each other.

  37. I know she’s down to earth and a great person but she’s so glamorous and ‘chill’ it’s like you’re walking around with a movie star….not a bad thing!

    1. You are alive.. you are kicking omg.. how are you.. my friend..what’s up..beside you..

  38. Nice yellowtails for a nice fine date diner…ohhhh you are…..good morning Vietnam bye bye Philippines…nice going Guys…

  39. Very nice video Henry , great venue and a classy lady for your diner date. You both look very happy and natural together. Enjoy your new experiences there and Iโ€™m glad it was a good move for you .

  40. What an amazing place! So clean and nice, and with excellent entertainment. Looks like you’re doing well. Good to see that!

  41. Nice Reekay ๐Ÿ™‚ the fish looked like some sort of sturgeon (theres different varities and one of them is the one whom one uses for russian caviar, beluga) and yellowtail.

    1. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea You have to start seeing it as you being a “keeper” as well. As I commented in your previous video, she’s also lucky for the companionship you provide and the attention you give. You’re both fortunate to be in this situation, not just her.

    2. i believe she is. just have to let time do it’s thing, build more trust and get to know each other better. ๐Ÿ™‚

  42. Ricky, she’s seems a keeper. It’s time to get over yourself and start eating fish head soups and learning the language and culture. ; )

    1. already working on the language. i’ve had some fish soups, but she knows i’m not crazy about most shellfish or things with eyes. we ordered some shrimp, dimsum, seafood rice and something i’m not sure what it was, but it was tasty. ๐Ÿ™‚

  43. What a wonderful date night! Wow, all the perfect ingredients are there! I think we are all privileged to see a touching love story unfold!
